New Years Eve
Seeing out the year across the group, from family-hour sittings to six courses under the fireworks.
The shape of New Year's Eve depends on where you sit. Sails goes long: one sitting at 7pm, six courses with a beverage package, $1,495 a head, with the Harbour Bridge fireworks in front of you. The Fenwick takes the same one-sitting, six-course approach on the Balmain East foreshore at $1,095.
Most of the others split the night in two — an early, family-friendly sitting and a later one that runs past midnight. Riva, Ventuno, Summer Salt, Ripples Rose Bay, Ripples Little Manly and Noi all work that way, with first sittings from $75 to $145 an adult and second sittings from $129 to $395. Ripples Chowder Bay holds a single 7pm sitting at $335 an adult, and Akti moves from a reduced à la carte early to a shared banquet at $295, with a DJ keeping the wharf going well past midnight.
The James sets no menu at all: à la carte, no sittings, stay as long as the night holds.
