Sails is on the water at McMahons Point, right beside the ferry wharf, with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge lined up across Lavender Bay. There is no better reason to arrive by water.

The kitchen keeps things simple and seasonal — contemporary Australian cooking that lets good produce do the work — with a wine list to match.

The dining room is elegant without being formal; the harbour handles the drama. A private dining room sits off to one side for a table of twenty.

Lunch is midday to 2.30 on weekdays and midday to 3 at weekends. Dinner runs every night, 6 to 9.

Group dining

Groups of 11 to 25 choose between a three-course set menu and a six-course shared tasting menu. Menus can change without notice. A 10% gratuity is added to the bill, and a 10% surcharge applies on Saturdays and Sundays.

Seated 92 · Cocktail 120

Sails takes up to 92 guests seated or 120 for a cocktail party. One side of the restaurant can be reserved on its own for 35, and the private dining room seats 20 or holds 30 standing.

Getting here

Sails is at 2 Henry Lawson Avenue, McMahons Point, on the waterfront next to the ferry wharf. The ferry from Circular Quay takes about eight minutes, and water taxis can also come in at the wharf.

Buses run through North Sydney to McMahons Point. If you drive, there is street parking on Henry Lawson Avenue, on Blues Point Road and on East Crescent Street, from which steps lead down to the restaurant.
